Brothers in Sigma,
As the Florida State Director, I understand that there are going to be many challenges ahead concerning the work of Sigma. Florida is a powerful State, where the Collegiate and Alumni Chapters are constantly "speeding our cause on its way." Over the past few years, we have had very successful State Conferences and Leadership Conferences, where the attendance and participation has been astounding. Our Brothers are continuously working hard to support our local, state, and national programs. I could not be more proud of the achievements that have come from the Sunshine State!
Over the next year, I would like to emphasize to the Brothers the importance of Financial Obligations, Reactivation/Retention, and Conference Attendance. I believe that these three items will keep us on the right track and will keep Phi Beta Sigma at the forefront on our campuses and in our communities. I would like to see the day when there are more Financial Brothers than Non-Financial. I would like to see Brothers register and attend conferences as a Chapter, and not just send 1 or 2 Brothers. I am asking all the Brothers in the State to "reach back" and make an honest and concentrated effort to reactivate 1 non-active Brother each ("Each One, Reach One").
I realize that we need to increase our number and financial stability, we need to reactivate our inactive Brothers, and we need to stay informed on Fraternity matters. I am confident that the State of Florida will lead the way in these initiatives...and that the Brothers will continue to make positive strides in promoting the Cause of Sigma.
